This position requires a valid USCG Master of Towing Vessels upon Western Rivers, Inland waters license and a valid radar endorsement.  Must be able to communicate and work well with others.  Must have safe work experience, and be familiar with recognizing and mitigating hazards identified in the work place.  Must have a good understanding and the ability to safely navigate in ever changing river conditions.  Pilot must have a good understanding of the USCG "Inland Rules of the Road' for navigating the waterway, maintaining fleeting operations, etc.  Understand how to properly secure barges as needed and to position and place barges within the confines of the dedicated work site or build tows to navigate along the inland waterway system if deemed necessary.  Must be able and willing to supervise deck crew, troubleshoot some mechanical issues and problems, perform preventive maintenance of the vessel (such as servicing main engines and generators), chipping, painting, and cleaning as necessary.  Ensure the motor vessel is properly cleaned and maintained as per the USCG regulations.  Direct and oversee all facets of the boat operations. 

This vessel works to support the sand dredging operations.  This includes shifting barges, moving anchors, and moving the dredge.  The position is based in Conway, with work also occurring in North Little Rock.  This is a daily "lunch bucket" operation.  Hours are from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm but may increase up to 12 hour shifts.

  • Hold a valid USCG Master of Towing Vessels upon Western Rivers, Inland waters with radar endorsement
  • Ability and desire to work 12 hour shift when required
  • Must be willing to work Saturdays when required
  • Ability to perform manual labor including lifting items at least as heavy as 50 pounds when required
  • Must be motivated and a self-starter
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and perform repetitive bending and stooping when required
  • Must not be afraid of water and be comfortable working over or adjacent to water
  • Must have ability and desire to work during inclement weather conditions including extreme heat and cold
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and work well with all applicable entities involved in the process at all time
  • Must be dependable and consistent to report to work as scheduled
  • Must possess basic computer skills as we use Tow Works for a significant amount of our USCG documentation onboard vessel
